SPACE's property portfolio increases by 25%
London's largest artist studio provider secures central London developments
This year SPACE has acquired leases on four new buildings, adding to the sixteen that the charity currently leases to 600 artists across London.
These new developments, at Arlington, central Camden; Timber Wharf, Shoreditch; Peabody Yard, Islington; and Dean Street, Soho, have been made possible by a series of innovative partnerships.
Arlington in Camden, the railway arches at Timber Wharf, and Dean Street result from a partnership with One Housing Group, one of London's leading providers of high quality, affordable homes. A meeting of vision and pioneering approaches to London's social economy has enabled these opportunities. SPACE's expertise in delivering studios and contributing to the social economy has been recognised as key to the development mix.
The Peabody Yard development has been made possible with support from London Borough of Islington and Creative Islington as well as landlords Peabody Trust. The two storey Victorian workshop buildings, originally used by artisans and craftsmen, have lain empty for several years.
